Lectureship in Experimental Particle Physics (Manchester U.) The lecturer will work in the newly merged experimental and theoretical particle physics group. The combined group consists of 12 academic staff and about 60 support scientists, engineers, technicians and research students and currently has projects at LHC, BABAR, DZERO and in phenomenology. It also has a core theory programme. The group has diversified extensively into e-Science and more recently, accelerator science, and is currently reviewing its long term programmes. In the near future, the School's laboratories will be refurbished and the group will enjoy modern detector laboratories and clean rooms as well as a newly furbished e-Science laboratory. The group is in the process of acquiring the largest computing resource for particle physics in the country as well as gigabit per second connectivity to the international network. Applications are invited from particle physicists with three or more years of post-doctoral experience. The successful applicant will be expected to take a pro-active role in the group's future programme and is likely to have a strong interest in shaping and participating in the development of future detectors for particle physics as well as having the ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, some teaching experience would be desirable. He/she will have a good research record and the potential to attract external funding.
