Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position University of Illinois at Chicago The Department of Physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professorship, to start August 2006. We are seeking candidates in the areas of experimental condensed matter (hard and soft matter) physics and experimental high energy physics. The UIC Department of Physics has 24 faculty members and 75 graduate students in the Ph.D. program. Research is conducted in the areas of atomic physics, biological physics, condensed matter physics, high-energy physics, materials science and nuclear physics. Faculty members are expected to have a commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program. UIC has 24,000 students (7000 graduate students), 15 colleges and annual research expenditures exceeding $290 million. UIC is conveniently located near Argonne and Fermi National Laboratories and faculty in the department carry out research at these facilities. The university also has extensive shared research facilities including nano-and micro-fabrication facilities and state- of-the-art electron microscopy facilities.
