Three High Energy Physics positions at Florida State University Tallahassee, FL 32306 1. Tenure Track Assistant Professor Targeted for CMS at CERN. The Physics Department is seeking, at the Assistant Professor level, one candidate in experimental elementary particle physics to participate in the CMS Experiment at the LHC at CERN. The beginning date is flexible between August 2004 and August 2005. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics and postdoctoral experience. Enthusiasm for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and participation in the department's outreach programs is expected. The candidate will join a group of nine experimentalists and theorists who are working on, in addition to CMS, the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The High Energy Physics group at Florida State University has an immediate opening for a system manager of the FSU HEP Linux/UNIX cluster. The successful candidate will also participate in installing and utilizing remote computing software for the DO and CMS experiments and be expected to work on computer resource development for the future. Candidates should have a PhD in Physics and at least two years experience in high energy physics computing. HEP Computer Software Engineer Position The High Energy Physics group at Florida State University has an immediate opening for a software engineer to set up the CMS Experiment software environment and system at Florida State University. The successful candidate will also develop and install the CMS Grid computing at Florida State University. This is a temporary position of about two to five years in length. CMS is a major experimental program at the International Physics Laboratory CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. Knowledge of the CMS software and ability to install is a requirement.
