SYMBOL

This Command defines (or modifies) a Symbol

Parameters

SYMBOL
Symbol Name.
TEXT
Symbol Equivalence Text String. Thus must be enclosed in quotes (either single or double) unless it is only a single word having no embedded spaces or commas etc.

Qualifiers

/LOCK=<password>
Specifies that the Symbol be locked. The password should be an Integer Number which must be used in any attempt to unlock the Symbol. Symbols are unlocked by default, this being the case when this Qualifier is absent or has no associated value. This Qualifier may only be attached to the Command, not the Symbol Name.
/IMPORT
Specifies that the Symbol be imported from the Operating System. The TEXT Parameter should be omitted in this case since the Symbol Equivalence Text String will be formed from the specified Operating System Symbol. This Qualifier may o nly be attached to the Command, not the Symbol Name. This Qualifier is currently only valid for VAX/VMS Operating Systems.
