CDF Logo Analysis of High Mass Di-Photon Events and Search for Randall-Sundrum Gravitons Exotics Logo

This Run II analysis searches for high mass di-photon states. The sample is 202 pb^-1 of TEvatron data taken at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV between February 2002 and September 2003. We examine data with two central (|η| < 1.04) photons with E_T > 15 GeV. We find no significant peaks in the diphoton mass spectum and set limits on the Randall-Sundrum Model of graviton production. All results are preliminary.

Blessed Plots and Tables:

Diphoton invariant mass distribution:
Di-photon invariant mass plot, EPS or GIF, in variable bin widths with bin widths comparable to the mass resolution (sigma = sqrt(M)) and an additional 2% constant term to account for the EM resolution.

Comparison of data with background expectations:
Comparison of Standard Model di-photon contribution plus misidentified jets with observed data, EPS or GIF.
Comparison of fitted background contribution with observed data, 5 GeV/c**2 mass bins, EPS or GIF.

Acceptance and Efficiency:
Total acceptance of Randall-Sundrum gravitons as function of graviton mass, EPS, GIF, black/white-EPS, or black/white-GIF.
Total efficiency of Randall-Sundrum gravitons as function of graviton mass, EPS, GIF, black/white-EPS, or black/white-GIF.

Cross-section, mass, and combined RS graviton limits:
95% confidence level RS graviton cross-section times branching ratio limits as function of graviton mass, EPS or GIF.
95% confidence level RS graviton mass limits in the graviton mass versus coupling, k/M_Planck, plane, EPS or GIF.
Combined 95% confidence level RS graviton mass limits of the di-photon and di-lepton searches in the graviton mass versus coupling, k/M_Planck, plane, EPS or GIF.
