CDF Logo Search for Quasi-Stable Doubly Charged Higgs Bosons Exotics Logo

We describe our search for a long-lived doubly-charged Higgs particle in CDF Run II. We anticipate a signature of two highly ionising tracks with penetration in the detector similar to that of a muon. Our search uses 206 pb^-1 of high Pt muon data collected between February, 2002 and September, 2003. Having found no candidate event in the two-track search region, we set a mass limit of 134 GeV on quasi-stable H++/H-- production.

Plots and Tables:

Acceptance for Double Charged Higgs Production
This plot shows the acceptance of the search as function of the mass of the higgs boson GIF for "loose" and "tight" cuts.

Cross Section Limit
This Plot shows the limit on the cross section at 95% C. L., GIF, along with the NLO prediction of the cross section.
Here the production diagram is shown, GIF, Drell-Yan production of a pair of doubly charged higgs bosons.
