Pair Yields

Definition of two dimensional side bands

This Figure illustrates the two dimensional signal region and side band definitions. The signal region is indicated by the green square, the blue squares are the regions where a true trigger (probe) D0 meson is combined with a probe (trigger) D0 candidate from the combinatorial background. The pair candidates from background-background combinations, are subtracted twice. This is compensated by adding the pair candidates from the red regions.

The combinatorial backbround has been eliminated by a two-dimensional sideband subtraction. The MC has been normalized to the same number of D0D*- pairs as found in data. The relative fraction of ccbar and bbbar MC events has been adjusted to the value found in data.

The transverse momentum, the pseudo rapidity and azimuth of both D mesons are shown.

The combinatorial backbround has been eliminated by a two-dimensional sideband subtraction. The MC has been normalized to the same number of D0D*- pairs as found in data. The relative fraction of ccbar and bbbar MC events has been adjusted to the value found in data.
