This webpage summarizes the CDF preliminary result for a search a search for the associated production of a standard model (SM) Higgs boson and a W boson. The search is performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7fb-1 of data collected by the CDF detector at the Tevatron. in ppbar collisions at √= 1.96 TeV. WH → τ ν bb candidate events are selected requiring two jets, a hadronically decaying τ lepton and large missing transverse. In addition, at least one of the jets must be consistent with originating from a bottom quark. A binned likelihood fit of the dijet mass distribution is performed to test for a potential Higgs signal. In the absence of an observed excess, we set upper limits on the production rate times branching ratio for a potential Higgs boson as a function of its mass. For a test Higgs mass of 115 GeV/c2 we set observed (expected) upper limits of 28.7 (46.6) times SM.
A detailed summary of the results can be found in the public note.
