Jet Fragmentation at CDF and Comparison to Modified Leading Log Approximation

Abstract
Average multiplicities and momentum distributions of charged particles in jets are compared to and found to agree with the predictions of the Modified Leading Log Approximation, which assumes perturbative nature of the jet fragmentation down to momentum transfer scales as low as Qeff~Lambda_QCD. We extract Qeff=240+/-40 MeV, the ratio of number of parton in gluon jets to the number of partons in quark jets 1.74+/-0.13, and the ratio of the number of charged particles to the number of partons 0.57+/-0.10.
