QCD Update "Lambda and Kshort Production" Justin Lancaster
April 6, 2001
Summary: Hyperons and kshorts were found in various data sets. Track embedding was used to calculate efficiencies, and results when possible were compared to HERWIG. C-taus as well as widths were measured. For the jet sets, the kshort and hyperon must orginate from within 5.0 cm of the jet vertex as well as be within a 0.7 cone. In addition, jets were corrected with underlying event and out-of-cone corrections. Track embedding used the track density distribution which depends on the energy of the jet. Properties of jets, kshorts, and hyperons were compared with jets not containing hyperons and kshorts. Muons, electrons, and photons using standard cuts from which W/Z/photon samples were extracted. In the W/Z/photon sample, few kshorts and hyperons were found inside jets. This week will emphasize the results ratios of lambdas(lambdabars, kshorts) over the number of jets in various energy ranges (10-20,20-50,50-80,80-100, >100 GeV). It is not as meaningful to do the same study for cascades and cascadebars because of low statistics. The number of lambdas, lambdabars, and kshorts outside all jets (cone size of 1.0) greater 10 GeV were also examined. In addition, KS Pt as well as KS Pt/Jet Et for various jet energy ranges for both the Jet100 and Jet20 will be presented.
