QCD Group Blessing Procedure
Before Preblessing:
- Your analysis should have been presented in a QCD
group meeting at least once in the previous couple
of months.
Preblessing process:
- Preblessing takes place two weeks before blessing.
- Before your preblessing talk, write and post a
CDF note describing your analysis.
- Give a preblessing talk at the QCD meeting. This
talk should describe the analysis and clearly identify
plots that are to be blessed.
- Note carefully any questions or requests made
during your preblessing talk so that you can deal
with them before the blessing talk.
Blessing process:
- Blessing usually takes place at the QCD meeting
following preblessing.
- At least one day before your blessing talk,
put the ps files for plots to be blessed in your
blessed plots area on CDFSGA. Your blessed plots
area will be /data38/jet/physics/xxxxx
where xxxxx is a name created for your subtopic
(for example /data38/jet/physics/diffractive
is the blessed plot area for the diffractive
analyses). If we have not already created an
area for your topic, let the QCD conveners know
and it will be done. Also put into your blessed plots
area an html in the standard format ... ask the
conveners for an example, or look at the source code
for one of the existing blessed plots items accessed
via the internal qcd page (not the public qcd page which
delivers a sanitized version of the blessed plots htmls).
-
Please note that all filenames in the html are
typed in lower case .... this is important
because UNIX cares.
- Give a blessing talk in the QCD meeting in which
you summarize the analysis, respond to any questions
or requests from the preblessing, and discuss the
plots to be blessed.
- After your blessing talk, make any changes,
additions, or deletions agreed to in the meeting,
and then replace the ps files in your blessed plots
are on CDFSGA. If you look at your blessed plots
area you will notice that there is a /public
subdirectory hanging off it. Copy the html from
your blessed plots area into the public subdirectory,
and edit it for public consumption (remove references
to cdf notes and anything else that should not be in
the public domain). Make sure this html points up
one level to the ps files (i.e. filename xxxx in
the original html --> ../xxxx.
- To complete the blessing process, let the
qcd conveners know that the files are in place.
The conveners will then make the last link to
bring your stuff into the public domain. Finally,
once this is done, please
check that the blessed plots stuff you get on www is
ok for both the internal and public qcd pages.
- When all the above has been done, your plots
are blessed and may be shown in public.
