Abstract

The non-perturbative component of the b-quark fragmentation function has been extracted from LEP measurements. The extracted function does not depend on any hadronisation model, but only on the definition of the perturbative QCD component. Important discrepancies have been observed between this result and known hadronisation models, among which is the widely used Peterson distribution. As the Peterson distribution was and is still used by CDF, we need to examine how do the observed discrepancies affect the CDF results. Another open question is how can the proposed function be integrated into CDF analysis.
