Jet Resolution
Many searches for new physics in Run II could be
improved with a better jet resolution. With the extended
tracking CDF is building for Run II, we investigate the
use of tracking and shower maximum information in the
measurement of jet energies. We test this on a direct
photon data sample from Run Ib, using the pt imbalance
with the opposite-side jet as a measure of jet resolution.
We use the "UA2 bisector method" to reduce the effects of
initial-state radiation on the pt imbalance. We find
a 25% improvement in the jet resolution with these
techniques.
