Measurement of the b-jet Cross section in events with a Z Boson
(7.86 fb-1 analysis)
The b jet production cross section is measured for events with a Z boson (decaying leptonically) in 7.86 fb-1 of data. Events are selected by requiring two high pTjet electrons or muons and high pTjet central jets, among which jets are further required to be b-tagged. Results of the ratio of the Z+b - jet cross section with respect to Z and Z+jets cross sections are compared with predictions from ALPGEN and NLO QCD (MCFM).

The measurement with respect to the Z inclusive cross section is defined as:
where:
- NZbjet: the number of b-jets in events with Z
- NZ: the number of events with a Z boson
- AMCZ: the acceptance for Z events evaluated in MC
- AMCZbjet: the Z+b-jet acceptance evaluated in MC
- Blessed Results with 7.86 fb-1
The measurements are performed for events with a Z boson decaying leptonically either to electrons or muons. The event selection is defined by:
- Electrons:
- Two electrons with ET > 25 GeV
- At least one central electron , |ηe| < 1.0
- Second electron central or forward , |ηe| < 1.0 or 1.2 < |ηe| < 2.8
- Muons:
- Two muons with ET > 20 GeV
- At least one central muon ;
- cuts on ANNs output;
- Z mass window: 66 < Mll < 116 GeV/c2
- ΔR(l,jet) > 0.7
Jets are reconstructed using the MidPoint algorithm with R=0.7.
Measurements are defined for hadron level jets with pTjet > 20
GeV/c and |yjet| < 1.5.
Jets are further required to be tagged with Tight SecVtx Tagged
