Ph.D. Thesis Title ----- Measurement of Time Dependent B_d^0 B_d^0bar Mixing Parameter Using Opposite Side Lepton and D^*+- Meson in p-pbar Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV by Stephan Van Den Brink Defended on Oct 20th 1997 at University of Pittsburgh Advisors : Prof.E.Engels and Prof.P.Shepard Abstract -------- This thesis presents the results from the investigation of time dependent B0d-B0dbar mixing in B --> lepton X, B0d --> D*- X, D*- -->D0bar pi-, D0bar --> K+ pi- channel in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV using 110 pb-1 data collected with the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The D0 vertex is reconstructed. The B0 decay length is estimated using the distance from the primary vertex to the measured position of the D0 vertex. The B0 momentum is estimated using the D0 momentum and a kinematic correction factor from Monte Carlo. With the dilution floating, Delta Md = 0.55 + 0.15 - 0.16 (stat) +/- 0.06(syst) ps-1 is measured.
