Where to find TOF inside CDF:
Block diagram of one TOF channel
TOF separation power plot
ROOT macro: TofSeparation.C
Opposite side kaon spectrum
This plot is from figure 3 of note 4695.
How TOF measures t0:
This plot shows how three interactions can happen at the same point in z
and yet still be identified as being distinct using TOF.
TOF Reconstruction plots
ADC response

This is for channel 0 from store 950.

This is for channel 53 from store 860. This channel has a large z^2
component to its attenuation.

Landau function fitted to channel 53 ADC response.

The distribution is for all channels.
Speed of light analysis
- Speed of light is measured from slope of T(east)-T(west) vs z
- The left plot is without applying a walk correction
- The right plot is with a 1/Sqrt(Q) walk correction applied
TOF Performance plots
Background information:
- The only difference in these two plots is the scale on the y-axis
- Data was from several runs from stream J in store 860
- Positively charge tracks are on the right,
negative tracks are on the left.
- Cuts applied:
- Beta .LT. 1
- Number of COT hits .GT. 48
- Uncertainty on event t0 .LT. 50 ps
- 2-sigma cut on d0 with respect to COT beam position
- 2-sigma cut on z0 with respect to event vertex z position determined
with COT tracks
Particle ID plots
Background information:
- This shows the phi(1020) signal reconstructed with low momentum (pT less than 1.5 GeV/c) kaons
- Data was from 1.5 pb^-1 of the B_CHARM data set
- The signal is a Breit-Wigner convoluted with a Gaussian resolution function
- The signal estimate is the integral of this function between 1.01 and 1.03 GeV/c^2
- The background estimate is the integral of the background function in this range (indicated by dashed curve)
- The quantity delta t_K/sigma_t will be distributed like a unit Gaussian for real kaons
- Cuts applied:
- pT of both tracks between 0.4 and 1.5 GeV/c
- Minimum COT hits: 20 axial, 20 sterio
- Minimum silicon hits: 2 r-phi hits
- Impact parameter less than 1 mm with respect to beam line
- Both tracks in same vertex used to calculate the event t_0
