This tutorial will tell you how to enter or change the daughterboards position within a mother board. I will assume the you are changing a CAFE card withi an ADMEM motherboard (so far, the only other motherboard that has been defined is the MVME, with has a single daughterboard 6u-9u adapter-- eventually, we will have SMC/SMD's in the database)
Please look at Exercise 1 : Position Modification First--we will start from when you have the position modification form open.
If you "select" a slot that has an ADMEM in it (so that it's highlighted), the "card" button on the middle right will be available. Clicking on it will open up the Daughterboard display for that particular ADMEM.
If it's blank, then no CAFE has been put in. In the following steps, you can easily use the TAB button on your keyboard to quickly move to the next box
Type in
First box --"CHAN x" where x is 0 to 19 ('%x" would also work--note
that %0 is CHAN 0, %1 is 1, %2 is 2 ...%10 is CHAN 10.. Do 2 more
TAB's
3rd box -- type in "%E" that good enough to stand for FERMICDF: CAFE
Do another TAB to get to the next box
4th box enter the serial number, then use the down arrow to move to
the next line (at CHAN 11, you are at the bottom of the 12 entry
table--a down-arrow would open up a new blank line at the bottom)
after 10 entries or so, click on "commit"
You're done--once all 20 CAFE has been entered and "Commit" clicked.
To replace an existing CAFE card with another, you must first click on the M button of the CAFE that being removed--move to "CDF/1" and then Tab, W (for working spare), then click on commit--you have now removed the existing CAFE card. You can then follow the instructions above to put in the new CAFE card
While it is useful to have the CHAN consecutive in the display, that is not essential. In fact, if you need to replace a CAFE in particular CHAN, and put a new one in, that one will show up in the last line of the display.
