MISCOMP/INT1 / CDFDB Test Database tutorial 2 : Module history -- History reports (position, repair/checkout), and entering a checkout history record

(under modification) version 2.0, John Yoh, 12/3/1999
version 2.1, Linus Wong, 7/12/00

Note : Please use the test db for practice

In this tutorial, you will obtain history reports on position history, repair/checkout history, and enter a checkout history record.

POSITION HISTORY REPORT

To get a position history of a particular module, go to the Misweb web report form, and enter the module name and serial number in the "Position history" form. (problem: there is no (longer?) a "Position History" report. Module Positions w/ Asset History seems to be the same as All Positions. Also, neither All Positions nor Filled Positions do the history of where the *module* has been, only what modules have been in a particular position. However, take a look at newreports.html on the proper server for a sample form that will do the Position History of Assets.-LW

To get a history of what has been in a particular rack/crate/slot position, use either the "All Positions with History" or "Filled Positions with History" Misweb report form. Click on the drill down button in the positionId column to view the history of that position. Alternatively, if you are in the "Position Modification" maintenance form, after querying a particular rack and bringing up the crate/slot info, you can press the 'H' button next to a particular crate/slot position to view the history of that position.

REPAIR/CHECKOUT HISTORY REPORT

You can either use the Misweb report on "Repair History", or, if you have the privilege, use the "Asset Tracking" maintenance form, which can be reached by going to the CDFDB home page and either clicking directly on the link, or by using the "Module Maintenance Forms" and selecting it from the menu.

ENTERING A CHECKOUT HISTORY RECORD

  1. First, you must pick 1 or 2 units to work on. Go to the cmd database, use report/MISWEB, database "int1" (test db) query on some module type such as TRACER (you can select any module type--click on ? to get a list of available modules, though not all modules have units accessible from the database) to select the units that you want to play with, write down the module type and serial number of those units. I've selected FERMICDF: TRACER modules with serial number 100 and 101.
  2. Let's say that you would like to add a history record to TRACER 100
    1. Using Netscape 4.5+ or IE 5+, go to the test db, cmd--Choose "Module Maintenence form", then log in as cdf_test, password run2, database int1..
    2. Click on "Job", Use Username: cdf_test and Password: run2 to log on. You might have to wait a little (if nothing happens after 20 seconds, click on refresh or reload).
    3. Type in the module type (%TRACER% is fine) and serial number, and click on query (top menu).
Type in whatever messages you wish on the 3 windows, any additional relevant information, and then ADD YOUR NAME (last name, first name) ---then click commit. Exit.
    4. To check that you have correctly entered this record, go to the previous section on Repair/checkout history report.
