Once an "Equipment Service request" has been made, the appropriate repair tech should be informed. He/she can then fix the unit, and enter the repair information using the "Job" form on the Database. For the following exercise, use CMD, choose "Module maintenence form", then choose "int1" db for testing, to "repair" a module you have just entered through the "Equipment Service request" form in exercise 3.

  1. Using the web (Netscape 4.5 or above), or a direct PC connection, enter the miscomp/int1 test CMD.
  2. First, select a few ESRs (Equipment Service Requests) to close. To find out the "request number" for an ESR that is still active, go to the web reports (Reports-->MISWEB-->), 2nd line from the bottom--"Modules in repair", and click on run (or select particular type of modules, such as %admem%). Write down the request number of an ESR that you would like to close.
  3. Go back to the miscomp/int1/test CMD home page and Click on "Job". You will be prompted for your account and password. Use cdf_test and run2, respectively.
  4. When the Jobs window shows up, click on the "Query" button on top to enter query mode.
  5. Now enter the unit info--either the Request# (which you can obtain by using the report mentioned above to query on the module) or the model name and serial number, and then click on "Query" again. If you used the model/serial# combination, the most recent job request should be listed.
  6. You can now enter the Repair Catagory (more catagories can be defined, if you wish), Actual Trouble, Action Taken, and your name (last name, first name) in the Technician field. Click on commit when you are done.
  7. To remove the module from "active" repair, select another "Activity" for the module (such as "working spare"), and make sure that there are entries for all 3 comment fields (problem, actual trouble, action taken) and technician (you can use ?, though it's rather slow--or type in your name last-name, first-name). Only after filling out those 4 items will the form accept the "commit" button. By changing the Activity from "repair" to something else, YOU HAVE CLOSED THE JOB (i.e., the ESR is no longer active), changing the status of the job to "Complete" (which is not displayed).
  8. You can either do another job, or exit.
  9. To do another job without exiting, click on the "Clear" button to clear the form, click on "Query" to enter query mode, and type in a new request number, click on "Query", etc.
