The Problem:
All of the maintenance forms - when viewed on the current stock Fermi Linux
release (6.1.1) under GNOME (with the Englightenment window manager) with
Netscape - are displayed incorrectly and unusable.
Possible Solutions:
-
Use KDE - you could temporarily log out, switch your desktop to KDE and log back in to view the forms. Only problem is, you have to close everything you're doing in GNOME...
-
Use an NT machine - forms display fine under Windows using Netscape 6.2.3+
-
Upgrade to the latest GNOME (UNSUPPORTED) - the current release of GNOME + it's default window manager, Sawfish, seems to work. Using the newer GNOME with the Englightenment window manager does NOT work! Check out Helixcode's GNOME upgrade installer to make this upgrade as painless as possible, or download the individual packages yourself.
-
View the applets via some other browser or applet viewer (UNSUPPORTED) - While Netscape may not display the forms correctly, another viewer using a different Java Virtual Machine may work. For example, using appletviewer (small app to view java applets by Sun; usage: appletviewer <url>) seems to work. Appletviewer can be found on the Sun machines (it's actually a part of the JDK).
