Minutes of DAQ/Online Calibration Meeting 07/21/00
===================================================
MDC
---
There will be another rate test and for this supportDB would like to be
able to monitor it. They would like to do this in a week's time if
possible.
Online to Production
--------------------
Rick reported that the TriggerDB will go to production next week and has
been used in development testing to download the trigger.
MCS (aka slow control)
----------------------
Jack has to put a few finishing touches on the schema but it can be cut
this weekend into development so that Margherita can proceed to populate
and examine it. It should be available by Monday. Depending on the
testing, it can be moved to production next week.
New Schema
----------
Mark is cutting a schema into development with time stamp id's for
replication. He and John will meet to discuss the replication
implementation. Additional schema changes to allow multiple usage of
CID's and the new valid/used set will follow on a longer time scale.
Grants/Roles
------------
Rick explained that the plan is to give everyone access to all tables in
development using external authentification. The accounts will be made
by a daemon that looks at b0dau30 to see if there are new users. This
will reduce the load of asking for accounts from the dbas. Rick
St.Denis said that Rick Vidal has code he can modify to hand this and
has been giving it some thought.
For integration and production, there will be fewer accounts but they
will not be granted to users to make it harder to make a mistake by
doing development on the production database when a user thought they
were using a development database.
Nellie and Cynthia thought that this was a very good idea.
Validation
----------
Rick said that the validation had been set up for COT, QiePed, and SVX.
The code is working for COT, QiePed but there are problems with SVX (see
below). The idea of validation is that a reference data file is read
by a program written to a text database or read from production and
dumped to screen. This screen dump is checked into CVS and every night
the code output is compared against this reference file. Errors are
automatically reported to the people responsible for the code in the
repository and a web page contains the validation results for all
packages.
Nightly validation will allow CVS tags of the calibration consumer code
and database code to be made so that kor releases can be made (keep
online running).
Slow Control
------------
Round Table:
-----------
SVX: Jean Slaughter
================================================================
Jean said that Matt's code for SiStripSet does not work for the DEM's.
We should try this for real data. She will forward RickStD a detailed
description of what the problem is. Rick reported that he could read
the DEM data and write pedestals to the database, but that the program
core dumped when he tried to read the values back. He is looking into
the problem. Jean said that they needed to talk to Steve to see if
it would be possible to set the DEMS to generate valid data. She also
said that Matt admitted he needed to add error checking.
COT: Ashutosh Kotwal/Bill Orejudos

DatabaseHardware: Rick Vidal/Umesh Joshi
-------------------------------------------------
Rick St.Denis reported that Rick Vidal told him that the hardware
arrived yesterday and should take a few days to set up. Jim Patrick
thought it might be longer. Nellie Stanfield said that when they are
ready she will be able to install. She is working on setting up
database monitoring but this should be well under way before the machine
installations need to be done. Nellie will prepare a plan for the installation.
Muon:
===== ===============================================
Jack reported that he will be meeting with Trevor to get them going on D
mode calibrations.
Calorimeter/DBana: Vaia Papadimitriou
===============================================
Vaia tried to get the consumer to run and it could not write
to the database. A second attempt and it did not get that far.
Jack will help her out on this.
LED/Source Phillipe Gris
===============================================
Jack reported that Phillipe had code that was working and could write to
the database. The code was committed to CVS. Rick commented that the
code needs to be validated.
CLC:
-----------------------------------------------------
Jack reported that Alexei ran into some problems with the histograms and
is the heaviest user of the templates.
Consumer: Kaori Maeshima

ShowerMax: Mary Convery
-----------------------------------------------
Mary has written some map classes and will be asking
Jack for some help.
