This is a log of changes to CDF 4152. The log was started on 3 October 2000. It does not address changes before that date. The date tells when the DOCUMENT changed which is not necessarily when the change went in to the DAQ and the data. The policy is that the document should be changed before the data, but this is often not the case. The date the change occurred, the title of the sections that were changed and a few brief comments are given for each change. Note that changes in one section may cause the page, section, table, and figure numbers to change in many places. These types of changes are not logged. Added table for CMPD that details relationship between the stack number in the bank and the geometric position of chambers. Added flexibility in banks that store the wedge number in the "lowest wedge" and "wedge in TDC" fields. The rest of the changes simply improved the wording of the document in many places where it was confusing or misleading. The FDLD bank was completely redefined. Technical issues led them to radically alter the data to be stored in the bank. Added nomenclature to be used to distinguish the two stack numbers in the offline. In CMPD, table giving map from physical channel IDs to geometric indices was modified to reflect a different number of channels in the bottom region and a different map to part number in the bottom region. Also a few minor wording changes in the descriptions for FDLD and FDAD. Major rewrite of text, especially the part defining the correspondence of the channel ID to the hardware channels. Bank class is not affected. There is no code or data for this one yet, so the impact should be minimal. ------------------------------------------------------- 21 August 2001 - SVDD. New bank. This is a bank with a flexible format for use in debugging SVT. ------------------------------------------------------- 19 October 2001 - PESD. Description of the geometry and the correspondence between the channel IDs and the strips was fixed. It was simply incorrect before. This is not a change to the format of the raw data. It is correction that makes the documentation consistent with the data that has been coming from the detector. ------------------------------------------------------- 3 November 2001 - SL1D and TFRD. Major change is that many words in SL1D that were previously not defined are now defined. Some minor wording improvements in the descriptions. The locations of words that had previously been defined have not changed. Almost all of the changes are in the tables. ------------------------------------------------------- 6 November 2001 - Sections 3 to 7 early in the note were all heavily edited. These are the sections that apply to all banks. Short sections related to versioning and EDM2 were added. The rest was reworded and improved. Also, throughout the note many tables indicated the third word in the bank was an "index to the next bank with the same name". These were all changed to Bank Version". ------------------------------------------------------- 9 November 2001 - New bank class. CTMD for COT pressure, voltage, current data. ------------------------------------------------------- 26 November 2001 - XCES card section in the TL2D section. The format of this card was not documented before, and the details have been filled in. ------------------------------------------------------- 17 December 2001 - TL2D section. 2nd card changes from SL7 card to L1 scaler card. It was never filled with data before. Several other corrections to correct the documentation to be consistent with the data we have been getting from the detector for some time. These changes affected the following words. - 1st word of L1 Trigger Card - last word of XTRP card - all the XTRP track data words - the 2nd word for each track in the SVT Card - all the cluster card data words ------------------------------------------------------- 10 January 2002 - TL2D section. More changes to make the description accurately reflect the data format that has been coming from the detector for some time and added details. There is an extra paragraph in the XTRP card section about "Track phi". The table that gives the bitfields in the SVT card is modified and there is an extra descriptive paragraph underneath that table. ------------------------------------------------------- 15 January 2002 - XTID section deleted. There was a plan for this bank several years ago, but it was never and will never be created. ------------------------------------------------------- 30 January 2002 - CSHD and PSHD sections. Correct the documentation to be consistent with the data that has been coming from the detector. The SMXR channel ID is not written into the channel ID for these banks. It can be determined from the geographic address in the header words. Also a few minor wording improvements to those sections. ------------------------------------------------------- 11 April 2002 - CMPD section. Fix an error in the caption describing the big table. When we modified the table last year we did not notice that this also affected one sentence in the table caption. This is not a change in the format, just fixing an inconsistency in the documentation. ------------------------------------------------------- 8 May 2002 - TSUD section. We have been taking data with the layer bit set to 0 for the outer layer for some time. Someone recently noticed this mistake. To keep all the data consistent, we decided to change this convention in CDF 4152 for TSU. Now inner layer is 1 and outer layer is 0 and not vice versa. Also added a comment that the inner layer does not exist yet. ------------------------------------------------------- 9 May 2002 - CTMD section. Order of words in the bank reordered to be consistent with the data coming from the detector since the hardware was installed on 5 April 2002. ------------------------------------------------------- 20 June 2002 - CTMD section. Error in the description of the formula for the conversion of data words to voltages was corrected. The format of the data was not changed only the description corrected. ------------------------------------------------------- 15 October 2002 - CTAD section. New section added describing this COT diagnostic bank. ------------------------------------------------------- 29 October 2002 - EMTD section. New section describing the format for electromagnetic calorimeter TDC data. ------------------------------------------------------- 1 November 2002 - EMTD section. Modify the way wedge number is specified so that the lowest wedge is no longer specified, only the sum that gives the wedge. ------------------------------------------------------- 19 November 2002 - EMTD section. Move the side bit from the channel ID to the module ID to make the module IDs unique. ------------------------------------------------------- 18 December 2002 - EMTD section. Swap the side and rapidity bits in the module ID plus some improved text to better explain things. ------------------------------------------------------- 30 December 2002 - TFTD section. New bank. A diagnostic trigger bank for the TOF trigger. ------------------------------------------------------- 29 January 2003 - EMTD section. Extend the bank format so that it can handle the TDC configuration that will be used during system testing and prototyping. ------------------------------------------------------- 3 September 2003 - TDC section. Format for all TDC banks changed to allow but not require a pad word at the end of each TDC data section. This change required by the hardware to support "Dual-Ported-FIFO" readout mode. Changes to the DSP code are under test to implement this. The purpose is to speedup the data readout. Data with this new format is expected to enter the data stream in the near future. ------------------------------------------------------- 13 October 2003 - TDC section. More changes to the TDC format. This affects all TDC banks. Word order within TDC section revised, pad word added, and the first flag bit is now always set to 0. Changes are designed to make data readout faster. Expect data in this format sometime in November. Note that the TDC format put into the note on 3 September (above entry) never made it into the data (and never will). ------------------------------------------------------- 24 November 2003 - SL1D section. The SL1D data format did not change. This change only made the documentation more complete and explicit. ------------------------------------------------------- 4 December 2003 - TCED and TM2D sections. Deleted them. These banks were planned once upon a time, but they do not exist and now it is pretty clear that they will never exist. ------------------------------------------------------- 4 December 2003 - T2PD section added into note. This is a new bank class related to the Muon Pulsar Level 2 board.. TL2D section modified. Only the format for the Muon Pulsar card part of TL2D was modified. ------------------------------------------------------- 5 December 2003 - Very minor correction in the title of the TL2D section related to the Muon Pulsar card. ------------------------------------------------------- 13 February 2004 - Add sections for new bank classes: CP2D, CP2C, CP2P, and TP2D. The CP2 (CPR upgrade) sections are very similar to the corresponding CPR sections. The CP2D channel ID is a little different, but the rest of the bank formats are the same. The TP2D section is mostly empty. It is just a placeholder for the day in the future when that format gets defined. ------------------------------------------------------- 16 February 2004 - Fix a couple typos in the CP2C and CP2P sections that were added the previous Friday. ------------------------------------------------------- 23 August 2004 - When the CDF web server got moved from cdfsga to fcdfwww, I discovered that there were problems in the latex formatting in the document. I had not modified these formatting commands since Frank Chlebana gave me the initial draft several years ago. It always looked OK on cdfsga. The problem: When printed or viewed on the new machine the top of the page got cut off. So I changed the latex formatting commands, had to change the way postscript files were being included everywhere, and went from the old style latex "documentstyle" to "documentclass". Some figures, tables, and text moved around a little everywhere, but the content remained unchanged. A lot of things are on different pages now.
