Subject: Farms Schedule for 1999

Hello,

     We have been asked to present a 1999 farms schedule at the next
Wednesday (January 20) CDF offline meeting.  We have also been asked to
present a request for hardware availability for farms nodes, I/O, disk,
etc. by the farms group by January 29.  These two are tightly related,
so it is a good time to look at both and make our best estimates.  

     I came up with two lists, but it might turn into 1 or maybe 3
depending on the best way to organize it.  The first list is a list of
milestones.  We will have to add beginning and end time for tasks along
with this but this is just a first draft!

     Please send me your comments and suggestions.  The dates we are
trying to match are this summer's integration milestone, the
availability of tape I/O from the data handling group, the mock data
challenge in October, the possible second mock data challenge early in
2000, and the collisions in April, 2000.

          nodes)

     My second list is a list of things that have to be done by us to
get ready for use of the farms.

       1. Farm Control (this is the loop that -- now through April, 1999
          (Yen-Chu has written down)
       2. I/O control (moving the files back and -- now through Oct,1999
          forth from tape and I/O to worker nodes) 
       3. Output control (concatenation, etc.) -- April through Dec,1999
       4. cdf catalog access                  -- Feb through June, 1999
       5. Calibration access                  -- Not known yet
