Monitoring Controls System meeting on April 12, 2005

Attendance:

Steve Hahn, Yeongdae Shon, Margherita Vitone, John Yoh, JC Yun

News:

Steve said a recent presentation from the accelerator division at the All Experimenter's Meeting indicated that they are trying to shorten time between end of a store and start of the next store to improve integrated luminosity. They are aiming to make is as short as 5 minutes. The implication of this possibility on iFix is very big. At this time it takes about same amount time of time just to raise HV's.

Vnode2:

Mark is working on the status panel which is controlled by Vnode2. Since Smart Alec is not supported by XP, we switched to a new software. Eventually, we will be better off using the PC's in the cryo area to run this software since the PC's are backed up with Diesel power system in case of power outage.

PLUG:

The CAEN crate #10 gives some problems. Recently we also found the monitoring program died. There is a good chance these might be related each other since the program is known to be robust.

CLC:

Mary is back from her maternity leave. She had to mask off an offending channel.

MUON3:

Yeongdae promised to work on compiling HVMON at the new MUON3, which is in the cryo area. Once he compile the program successfully we will hook it up into the network. In case he needs some help, we have Andy Hocker and Mary Convery. They recentely compiled their programs.
