Monitoring Controls System meeting on April 1, 2003

Attendance:
Steve Hahn, Yeongdae Shon, Irina Shreyber, Margherita Vittone, Marcin Wolter, John Yoh, JC Yun

NEWS:
Steve said there were beam loss problems during the past week. These problems were solved by realigning a collimator. Also longitudinal bunch length blew up badly. It's fixed now. The Friday power outage caused a lot of problems. Unfortunately UPS failed to work properly. He noticed that Gamma supply limits were all reset due to the power outage - we need a scheme to read in these values automatically. After the shutdown, the CCU and PISA box trigger inhibit does not work somehow. We need to contact Oleg.

He also mentioned that the planned shutdown for BTEV and MINOS works during the summer might slip, if we do not have enough integrated luminosity by the summer.

ICICLE:
Margherita said a software which can access the database in small portions at a time will be ready in a few weeks. This will make it much faster. She also mentioned about the MUON3 time stamp problem. Sometimes it generates illigal dates, for example, 13th month. As a temporary measure she installed a protection in the Icicle codes. Yeongdae said he need the Visual C++ Version 6 to work on this.

PMS:
Marcin said BSU NW1, 2 were installed in the muon chain during the shutdown. Somehow the most significant bit got stuck. He modified his code to ingore the bit.

Marcin is going back to his home institution at the end of May.
