Monitoring Controls System meeting on August 5, 2003

Attendance:
Steve Hahn, Dan Ryan, Irina Shreyber, Margherita Vittone, John Yoh, JC Yun

NEWS:
Summer shutdown schedule is set. The target date is September 8 for 10 weeks or more. The luminosity goal of 225 -pb can be easily achieved in the mean time.

There are 3 planned power outages during the shutdown. These are on Sept 8, Sept 29 and Oct 6. The first and last ones are short ones (30min). The one on Sept 29 is exected to be 6 to 8 hours during the day shift.

SYSTEM:
During the shutdown we will replace several old pc's with new ones. Bologna sent one pc to replace the CDFEPHV.

Steve said the network disconnect test worked ok. He said this is Fermilab security requirements to do it once a year. This test ensures us running the iFix system when all the outside network is cut off.

Steve said we have 3 NIM signal cards for PCI interface. Two are for Muon system and one for CCU system. These cards will provide hardware trigger inhibit signal.

PISABOX:
Irina has a new pc to replace PISABOX. She is waiting for Mark (on vacation this week) to install the softwares. She said her vacation starts a week after Mark's. She also said she is cleaning up disk space every other day or so to keep minimum available disk space.

TOF:
Dan said he noticed the TOF was sending false alarms during his ace shifts. To solve this problem we nned to reboot the TOF system. However, he was told not to reload anything.

MUON:
Dan found the tooltip description is different from the button on a CCR page during his ace shif. Later steve pointed out that the 'All of ...' button is missing in the CCR page.

ICICLE:
An ace saw the ICICLE was complaining about the EDA toolkit a few days ago. The Solenoid 2 was rebooted to cure this. However, there was no interuption in run control. Steve also mentioned the recent problem with E/P since the June shutdown. There is about 1.5% reduction in E/P measurements. He said this corresponds to 2% change in Gamma power supply voltage. Larry Nodulman et. al. want some of PMT informations to be stored in the Oracle database.

PSM:
Dan said the fan on-off monitoring tested ok. The monitors send out 5V signals. He said we can mask them off in case we need to.
