Monitoring Controls System meeting on February 12, 2002

Attendance:
Mark Knapp, Yeongdae Shon, Margherita Vittone, Marcin Wolter, John Yoh, JC Yun

SYSTEM:
Mark is still working on the SIM patch installation. The amount of time he has to spend on a pc is quite unpredictable since some files are missing and other differences between pc's. Upgrading RAM did not go very well. The memory packages of 512 Mbyte could not be installed since most of the MCS pc's are too old for such high capacity memories.

MUON:
Yeongdae said he did his part correctly but trigger inhibit does not work on the 'TrigInhibit.grf' somehow. He and Jonathan are investigating.

Voltman:
Opening of the detector pictures of the PSM are known to freeze the Vnode1. Marcin is proposing to remove initialization part of the picture. However, with a small price to pay - the check mark may not be synchronized completely. We need a good instruction for the shift crews for this. The PSM writes data files at a rate of 1Gbyte a month. This means we needs to clean up the data file every two months or so. He thinks it would be very convenient if the hard disk has bigger capacity -currently it's 4Gbyte.

ICICLE:
Margherita said the ICICLE system is doing fine these days most of the time. In some case, runs are very short, the run could be ended before the initialization of the ICICLE is complete. We need an ICICLE abort scheme to guard against this.
