Monitoring Controls System meeting on February 26, 2002

Attendance:
Gervasio Gomez, Steve Hahn, Andy Hocker, Oleg Pukhov, Dan Ryan, Margherita Vittone, JC Yun

SYSTEM:
Steve said we have increased hard memory capacity from 128 to 256 Mbyte for a large fraction of iFIX pc's. JC said he saw some improvements in response time at the VNODE1. Steve also mentioned that we should work more on automation of iFIX system to reduce load from shift crews.

David said the disk space of the CDFTEMP is dwindling very fast these days. Since we down load all the iFIX pictures (790Mb) in the server on every Sundays, there is very little diskspace available at the C: disk (total 2Gb). We should delete the obsolete iFIX pictures in the server. If there is a way to download selectively, it would be very nice. We need to talk to Mark about this.

Since 6 months ago, the CDFS1, CDFS2 and CDFS3 lose heartbeat when iFIX databases are opened at local or remotely. Cryo shift crews have to restart iFIX or reboot the pc. Please DO NOT open these iFIX database while we are taking data. We need to investigate the problem.

TRIGGER INHIBIT:
The LED display and the iFIX picture of trigger inhibit do not match for the Central Muon HV and ISL. The LED's are controlled by APACS. We need to talk to APACS experts for this.

CLC:
Magherita said BSC and RPS are conflicting each other in iFIX. Michele and Andrea should settle this matter.

VOLTMAN:
Dan said the troublesome picture initialization of the PSM pictures were removed. This will stop freezing the Vnode1. Dan reiterated the Disk space problem at Voltman. Steve suggested that we could write on CD's.

CCU:
Margherita, Oleg and Gevarsio installed the Muon Scillator system into CDF global alarms and CDF HV summary pages. We need to work on heartbeat. Oleg was advised that time interval between time stamps should not to exceed 5 minutes. Steve pointed out that the system do not have instantaneous alarm mechanism. He said we can use APACS for this.

Some time ago, pisabox readout at the CCU pc froze Vnode1 since it ran with very high priority. JC suggested to use 'DoEvents' to lower the priority. Marcin Wolter is expert on this routine.

SVX:
Andy wants the buttons on the CDFGbAlarms page and bars on the CDFHVSummary page ordered correctly. From inside out -- L00, SVX, ISL.
