Monitoring Controls System meeting on January 29, 2002

Attendance:
David Dagenhart, Steve Hahn, Andy Hocker, Mark Knapp, Jonathan Lewis, Margherita Vittone, Marcin Wolter, John Yoh, JC Yun

NEWS:
Steve said Tevatron beam spread is much worse than expected. As a temporary fix, they will use beam optics to improve the situation.

Trigger Inhibit:
Jonathan showed the status of Trigger Inhibit for the subsystems. Please take a look at his transparency and talk to Jonathan if your system is not working.
Jonathan's transparency:

  • Trigger Inhibit Status
  • PLUG:
Luciana needs to purchase a PC for the plug system. She needs to know whom she has to talk to for specifications. We were told that Mike Lindgren is the right person.

    SYSTEM:
Mark said he needs to install new SIM's for all the MCS PC's. He needs to shut down all the PC's for 20 minutes to 1 hour each for the installations.

    SVX:
Andy is going to overhaul the SVX iFIX system. First, all the VB code will be translated to C++. Followings are the items to be implemented.

*** SVX D button will open a home made and improved SVX Alarms page.
*** Solve freezing (5min) problems when SVX system restarted.
*** SVX+ISL+L00 into 1 button in raising HV.

    Voltman:
Opening of some of the PSM pictures tends to freeze Vnode1 - this is due to the fact that iFIX employs single task system. Marcin learned that when the 'DoEvents' function was called it frees the system and you are able to use mouse. However, there are 2 hitches for this. It freezes the 'Pin wheel' picture and you can not close the picture until the initialization of the picture is complete. It seems that the best thing is to animate the check marks in the near future.

    PTM:
David requested new memories for the PLUGTEMP. Steve will take care of it.
