Monitoring Controls System meeting on Jan. 9, 2001

Attendance
Steve Blusk, Mircea Coca, David Dagenhart, Andy Hocker, Mark Knapp, Jim Loskot, Pat Lukens, Yeongdae Shon, Jeff Spalding, Margherita Vittone, John Yoh, JC Yun

Margherita needs input from subsystem experts. She needs to know what kind of information should be written into the Oracle database. She also thinks there might be some information which are outside of iFIX realm should be included in iFIX area of database.

We do not have to store all the information each time. Only those tags which gone out of limit may be stored to save space. These limits should be provided by each subsystem expert. Experts should contact to Margheriat for these issues.

Yeongdae Shon joined the MCS group. He is a Wisconsin graduate student. He will commute from Madison to take over Randy's work.

John is working on updating and improving the MCS web pages. Please send him comments on the new version.

Andy said SVX group decided to control SVX bias voltages from the main page at the Vnode.

Steve said the database freeze up problem has been still persistent since several months ago. The iFIX workspace program does not respond when database was reloaded after changes made. He thinks we need to bring in Intellution Engineer for this.

Mark said he applied for new ip adresses for the iFIX pc's to hook up to the CDF online network. He will finish hooking them up sometime during nextweek.

There was a virus attack on iFIX pc's over the weekend. It affected excutable files. Mark thinks it sneak into the system while someone down loaded software. A few days later, he was informed by a D0 expert, Greg Cisko, that a file named flcsc.exe in one of the server machine was responsible for the virus. He managed to kill it.

Pat is working on MCS documentation which will describe the roles of MCS system for Run II.

JC is working on the voice alarm for the Global Alarm page. The built in software, scheduler, is easy to manipulate and also provide ability to customize with visual basic script.
