Monitoring Controls System meeting meeting on July 6, 2004

Attendance:
Steve Hahn, Yeongdae Shon, Margherita Vittone, John Yoh, JC Yun

NEWS:
COT came back to full gain ! Small amount of O2 (60ppm) still flowing, which is down from 200ppm. The COT group plan to try out the Ar/CO2 mixture one week before the shutdown.

SYSTEM:
Steve said we ordered 10 pc's. Two servers, which should be faster, are not ordered yet. Mark stashed all the old pc's, which were replaced, as FNAL surplus.

We plan to go for Windows XP for the upgrade. The Windows 2000 and XP can coexist. Terminal server and client server are already built-in in the XP system. We can run 'desktop remote connection' which works like the VNC.

Margherita said she found a very useful software. The name of the product is Ad-aware and is a free software from a Swedish company from the site lavasoftusa.com. She ran it "by hand"; maybe it is possible to set it up to automatically run once a week or so. It detects so called "Data miners" which sneak in from the network and other bogus files and programs.

Documentation:
John said it's time to update instructions again.

VNODE:
During the weekend VNODE2 was acting very strange and slow. Steve found iexplore.exe was running. The problem went away after it was rebooted.

PLUG:
Intermittent problems happened in recent weeks at the CDFEPHV. Willis is watching on this problem.

MOUN:
MUON3 still use ISA CAEN cards. We have to use PCI cards for the new computer. We need to oder serveral of these. The new MUON3 will have to use NI(National Instrument) card for trigger inhibit. So far CLC and Moun Sci systems are running TI with NI cards.
