Monitoring Controls System meeting on March 16, 2004

Attendance:
Steve Hahn, Dan Ryan, John Yoh, JC Yun

NEWS:
The shutdown is in progress. Plug will be moved out on Tuesday. Survey for quadrupole magnets and COT works are the major items for the access.

PISABOX:
Two pisaboxes were broke recently. One was fixed with a new board and the other by recycling power.

DOCUMENTATION:
John is urging subgroup experts to update documentations. He asks the experts to update the date in the documentation after reviewing it even if nothing was changed.

SYSTEM:
Steve showed a couple of transparancies for the Windows NT to Windows 2000 upgrade. All the old PC's with NT will be replaced with new PC's with windows 2000. The main reason for the change is that kerberos does not work on NT system. Some uncertainties for the upgrade are compatibility of the interfaces - CAENET, Dallas Chip and RS485 etc.

  • Steve's transparancy.

  • Recently PC's are crashing a lot. Since we started switching to Windows 2000, node to node communcation is much slower (ping time is ~1 sec). We are going to replace network hub. Hopefully this will fix the network problems.
