Monitoring Controls System meeting on May 25, 2004

Attendance:
Michael Greene, Steve Hahn, Dan Ryan, Irina Shreyber, John Yoh, JC Yun

NEWS:
A record instantaneous luminosity was delivered during the week (~7.2x10**31). Now we are flowing 8 times more gas into the COT to reduce ageing. The inner layers of COT are turned on to confirm this. It will take a week or so to study. The summer shutdown date is set. It is to start on August 23 for 12 weeks. The new Tufts postoc, Michael Greene, joined MCS meeting. Irina is going back to Russia on June 10.

SYSTEM:
Intellution stopped supporting iFix Web Server which enabled us to view iFix picutures. Now we are forced to use more expensive iHistorian.

ICICLE:
Icicle crashes quite frequently these days. Margherita suspects the Smart Socket. This could be studied with recently installed smart router. Jane Nachtman is known to be a local expert on Smart Socket.

PSM:
Dan said the PSM system is in poor shape these days. Many false alarms (once every 10 minutes or so) are caused by the 1st floor data lines. For a quick fix, he changed code to reduce the frequency of alarms. Sometimes bits stuck and it reads 6 Volts instead of 5 Volts. The code is now tolerant to 6 Volt readings. He also slowed down the readout cycle. We need to work on the hardwares to cut down the noise of the data lines. He said there are also some communcation problems between Voltman and SVX.
