Viewing Don's Demo from the FIX Dynamics Server

Don Walsh has generated some examples of the higher level pages that might be used by people on shift to watch for alarms as well as view summary pages of Detector HV, LV, crates, etc.

In order to view these, you need to be able to access pictures on Bill Noe's server. It is not necessary to have an account on the server, only to have a PC running FIX Dynamics that is connected to the network.

In order to mount the server locally so that you can read from it, do the following:

1. In Windows Explorer under the tools menu, choose 'Map Network Drive.'

2. For path, enter the following

\\dmacs-nt-serv3\s

3. For drive, make sure you select local drive letter S

When you click ok, you will be prompted for a user name and password. If you have an account, use the name and password that Bill assigned for you. If not, you can log in as

user name public

with no password

Next, you need to create a directory structure on your local C drive like this

c:\\wdmacs\pic\cdfmcs

You will notice that on the server there is an identical directory. This is where the pictures reside. The top level cdf picture is

s:\\wdmacs\pic\cdfmcs\cdfmain.grf

Copy everything in the server cdfmcs directory to your local directory with the same name

In order to access the SCADA nodes that are part of the CDF refrigerator, gas, etc. systems, you will need a host file in the following directory.

C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc

The appropriate host file can be found in

s:\noe\host

You then need to go into the control panel and choose Network. On the Protocols tab, make sure TCP/IP is selected and then click on properties. On the WINS Address tab, make sure Enable LMHOSTS Lookup is selected and click on import LMHOSTS. Navigate to the host file you copied to the above directory and select it and say ok. Then ok out of all the dialog boxes and reboot.

Finally, start up System Configuration in the Intellution FIX Dynamics directory. Under the Configure menu item, select Network... Then add the following SCADA nodes.

CDF_S1

CDF_S2

CDF_S3

CDF_V1

Then ok out and quit the Configuration utility. When prompted, say ok to save the new configuration.

Now you should be able to startup FIX Dynamics and open the local cdfmain picture in workspace, go to run mode, and navigate from there. Note that when you open the cdfmain picture, a global variable is set that points to pictures on the server. If you wish to view pictures locally, you need to click on the local pics button.
