Monitoring Controls System meeting on November 12, 2002

Attendance:
Andrea Bocci, Steve Hahn, Andy Hocker, Yeongdae Shon, Margherita Vittone, Marcin Wolter, JC Yun

NEWS:
January 13th is set for a 3 week shutdown at the most recent planning meeting. Also there could be another shutdown in June. This is mainly driven by accelerator schedule. We need to study if the 3 weeks is long enough to switch over to iFix 3.0. If a mixed states of two versions (existing one and 3.0) is allowed, 3 weeks could be reasonable time scale. There was a SVX incident on Sunday. Two Z side ladders were lost due to beam.

DataBase:
There are 2 offline computers which replicate the Oracle database of the online computer. Replication resumed for one of the offline machine. We were told that the CAF does not have access to these machines so far. It was decided we do not change Icicle database structures. Improving efficiency requires large scale effort in modifications in Icicle code and browsers. The gain in disk space can not justify the man power necessary. Also Magherita made some improvements on database efficiency. Some people replied for Steve's e-mail on the Icicle database usage. We were told that muon wall positions and magnetic field measurements are used frequently.

Trigger Inhibit:
Andy said somehow L00 trigger inhibit was masked off accidently. We need to talk to Bill Badgett to send 'mask' information to the run control to prevent this kind of accidents.

COT:
During the weekened the COT low voltage failure caused some problems. First we do not have Trigger Inhibit for this. Secondly, the CDFGbAlarms button did not turn to red even if the voice alarm sounded. After the meeting Aseet fixed the problems.

CLC:
Andrea said the CLC machine has been stable for the last 3 months. He needs to restart the machine every month or so due to disk space problems. He does not know what program fills up the disk at the moment.

VNODE1:
Recently, the new batch of aces notice minor problems with the iFIX pictures at the Vnode1. John suggested that we should make log files associated with the pictures. Since log files tend to fill up diskspace we need to be cautious. For the moment we will watch the situation closely.

PLUGHV:
Margherita said the new code with HV control features still has some problems to solve.
