Monitoring Controls System meeting on October 18, 2005
Attendance:
Yeongdae Shon, Irina Shreyber, Margherita Vittone, John Yoh, JC Yun
News:
Irina is back. She will be here for a while to take care
of the Central Calorimeters.
According to Ferminews, the most likely starting date for the fourteen
week shutdown is March 1. It sounds strange but zebra mussels are the
culprit forcing the time scale. The cooling pond is infested with
zebra mussels which are clogging cooling water pipes. For efficient
extermination, we have to wait untill next spring when the water
temperature will exceeds 65 degrees F.
System:
The first round DOE computer security audit is delayed to November.
After the audit, they will make some recommendations and will be
back to see our response.
MUON3:
Yeongdae said his second attempt to upgrade the Muon3 computer was
not successful. It was cut short because the beam came back promptly.
He learned that somehow EDA tool kit routines were not even called when
the program crashed.
He said he needs sufficient time (~ 1-2 days) for the upgrade task.
A good news is that his availability improves dramatically starting November
when he will become a local resident.
