Monitoring Controls System meeting on September 20, 2005
Attendance:
Steve Hahn, Yeongdae Shon, Margherita Vittone, John Yoh, JC Yun
News:
The accelerator people are trying to go for smaller beta* this week.
The smaller beta* means more focused beam profile. This to increase
instantaneous luminosity.
Mark Knapp's office is moving to BEG, which is near SiDet. We will miss
his prompt help at short notice.
Steve's slides on computer security etc.
System:
We are subject to DOE computer audit sometime around October. This will test
how computer security smart we are. For example, we have to guard against any
phone calls asking for computer security information. Also any unknown CD's
should not be mounted to a CD driver. These could be loaded with virus.
We were told that VNC remote access through SSH is an accepted method by the computing division.
MUON3:
Yeongdae said his first attempt to try out the new upgraded MUON computer
did not fare well since the network to CDF-S2 was broken. He said he needs a
CDF-S2 experts when he try it again. This means Yeongdae, Phil and a CDF-S2
experts should be all available for the task. Since we rarely have
scheduled access recently it's hard for Yeongdae to complete his work.
