Level-3 takes as its input up to 1 kHz of events accepted by the hardware trigger, and must produce as output a selection of no more than 75 Hz of events to be logged to tape, sorted by physics interest. In addition, the Level-3 filter feeds the online monitors by selecting which events go to monitoring programs. Foci of effort in this program include
