Infrastructure
- This meeting was mostly devoted to the needs of the imminent
hardware installation, for which there's a lot to do.
- Three processor shelves (row 19) have been assembled and located in
the 3rd floor computing room. The old processor nodes have been moved
to them, the old converter nodes taking up the bottom part of the
output node shelf.
- The old optical fibers have been extracted from the floor and bundled
for possible future use.
- The racks of the old Level 3 farm (including the old SC97 rack) have
been cleared for use by Jim Patrick on the other end of the room.
- JJ has provided a cache of AUI-RJ45 adapters which DataComm no longer
needs.
- Sergei Bourov and JJ agree to have our SCPU hub in one of the network
racks on the west end of the room. This way we can hook up all the
SCPU's to that hub and then use one of the Ethernet links to the 18A
patch panel (next to the processor shelves) to connect it to the
Level 3 network rack. We've installed one of the 24-port switches
in the bottom of the patch panel rack.
- Hans Jensen wants to start reading out the major subsystems of the
detector, at least in parts, with all pieces in their designated
locations. This "test" will eventually build into the engineering
test run. The date is set for November 15, though Frank Chlebana
would like to target November 1.
