Thank you again for agreeing to serve on the review committee for Time-of-Flight readout electronics. The TOF electronics web page has been updated with a note on the low voltage power supplies for the preamplifiers. As a reminder this web page can be found at: http://cdfsga.fnal.gov/upgrades/front-end/cal/tof.html The overview note at the top of the page is a good guide to the general plan for this system. Mike Lindgren has agreed to chair the review committee. After the review please email your comments to him at mlindgre@fnal.gov and cc me. Mike will make a summary of the committees major comments which you can review before they are forwarded to the TOF project leaders and the upgrade project managers. He will also append the collected comments from the committee. I have asked the TOF electronics group to cover the following: o General architectural description from Preamp to Readout o Timing performance specifications and budget for contributions from: Preamp rise times, Clock stability, Preamp noise, Noise pickup, Rise time degradation in cables, digitization error etc o Usage of ADMEM cards: Cafe, Decafe etc - including any needs for special development such as FPGA programming o Design and prototyping plans of Transition card o Design and prototyping plans of Decafe card o Clock system design - fanout and local receiver transition card o Power requirements o Plans for prototyping and system testing Committee Charge: 1. Evaluate the design for time-of-flight electronics using ADMEM boards to determine if this planned system will meet the performance requirements. 2. Evaluate if manpower is sufficient 3. Is there is a credible schedule for completion and installation of the readout electronics by March 1, 2001. Agenda for July 13th Meeting: o Overview - Joe Kroll o Transition card design and Prototyping - Matthew Jones o Clock Distribution System - TBC o Summary - Joe Kroll Review Committee Members: Bill Foster Jonathan Lewis Mike Lindgren - Chair Charlie Nelson Jim Patrick Harold Sanders Terri Shaw If you have any questions please let me know. Regards, Peter
