CDF Logo Search for Trilepton Supersymmetry at the Collider Detector at Fermilab

A search for trilepton+MET using 5.8 fb-1 of data recorded by the CDF II detector is presented. We investigate the ee+lepton and the μμ+lepton channels, where lepton can be an electron, muon, tau, or isolated track. Compared to previous CDF analyses, the acceptance is increased with the inclusion of forward electrons, forward muons and the third tau objects that decay hadronically. The momenta of the objects we investigate are the lower possible, within the constraints of lepton identification and the single-lepton high-pt triggers. After observing good agreement in both event yields and kinematic distributions in several dilepton and trilepton control regions (with different dilepton-mass, MET and jet-mutliplicity requirements), we investigate the signal region (defined as MET>15 GeV, exclusion of the Z resonance, and N(jets)< 2). Although a small excess is observed in the signal region, the results are not inconsistent with the standard model. The results are interpreted in the mSUGRA chargino-neutralino production and a limit is set on the production cross section and chargino mass.
