Sweety, is our offical family pet. She is a
Maltese, an ancient breed
who may have been first bred by the ancient Egyptians. She is pretty cute but
with a vicious temper ( no matter what the article says).
She currently lives in Cairo with my parents.
The Egyptian Hound is also
an ancient breed of dog native to Egypt whose origins go back to the time of the Pharoes. I believe that the dogs locally named "Armant" in Upper (Southern) Egypt today are the same breed.

Cats too have their roots in
ancient Egypt where the cat god, Bastet, was worshipped and mummified cats were buried
with the dead.
I adopted a cat from the
Tompkins County S.P.C.A. in N.Y.
He is a grey tiger with white
feet and belly. I called him Kochka, which is Russian for
Mind you I am not a big fan of Arabic poetry, mainly because I was traumatised in my Arabic language classes at school. Yup thats it - I was traumatised. Sounds a lot better than just saying I was a lousy Arabic student with bad grades.
